Belated update of our Vermont trip

Whoops. I realized that I never recorded our trip to Vermont back in the beginning of December. I swear having a child makes your brain turn to mush. My memory is horrible and when I think I have done something, I haven't. Also, I don't have very many pictures from the trip!

Unfortunately at the end of November, Doug's grandfather, Don, passed away. It was very sad to have to go back east for such an occasion, but it was good to be able to go. We knew that this was coming, so for about a week we were going back and forth as to whether Mia and I would go back east as well, or if Doug would just go. Mia had never flown before and we were a little nervous. After thinking a lot about it, and the offer to help fly us out, we decided to go. Thank goodness for our friends Jeff, Emily and Nate for helping out with Burrito. It was wonderful knowing that he was taken care of and that we didn't have to worry.

So off we went. We flew into Manchester NH and then drove to Springfield VT. The funeral was the following day. Even though it was such a sad occasion, it was wonderful that Mia got to meet her Great Grandma, Anne, and Dougs Aunt, Uncle and cousins. The service was very nice, set in a little church in Springfield. Its amazing the amount of people that were there that loved Don. I am glad that we were able to be there.

After the service we went back up to Northern Vermont, where Doug and I grew up. It was very weird. I have never been there when my parents weren't. It was hard not turning up the hill to go home to our old house. It was nice to see the town though.

While there the lovely Emily drove up from Boston to see us! I had not seen her in TWO YEARS! That is far to long to go without seeing each other. It was so nice to have dinner with her (at Papa Franks no less!). The next day we drove up to her dads house to have breakfast in town and say goodbye:( I am so glad we got to visit though!

We did a lot of eating. We went to Moe's, Papa Franks and Oriental Wok. All the places we grew up eating and loving but don't have here in Washington.

It was nice to be able to see Doug's family, especially around the holidays! We had a very nice supper with the family and Doug's cousin at his parents house. It was kind of a holiday supper. I am glad in a way we got to celebrate family and the holidays together!

Even though it was a sad reason to go, I am glad we got to go to Vermont and see that part of the family, and have them meet and see Mia!
