4th of July

We had a fantastic 4th of July! There is nothing like spending holidays at home! Doug and I both had the day off from work and we just took it easy! It was a beautiful sunny, hot day. One of the first of the season! We lounged around all morning and just relaxed. Then Doug did some yard work and I started cooking. Our plan was to just have a lazy day at home. But then I started making food, then people started showing up, then fireworks started going off. It was fabulous! We had ribs, hotdogs, and potato skins (our new fav). We had a couple friends come by, then Doug, Delaney and I set off fireworks in our cul-de-sac with the neighbors. One thing I love about Washington is that you can buy your own fireworks. And I'm not talking poppers and sparklers. Im talking big boom and shoot up into the sky and explode fireworks:) The real stuff!
(Honest to goodness I didn't know I had dimples until a few years ago. Holy cow. And it looks like Mia will have them too!) Great-Grandma Hill sent Mia some money for her birthday.... so this is what she got:) Thanks Grandma!
Mia didn't like the fireworks. So I put her to bed. She slept through all of it, and Burrito guarded her the whole time:)

Swimming!

Mia took swim classes back in June. By classes I mean she had 30 minutes in the pool to play, twice a week:) Thank you Delaney for coming with us and taking pictures! Enjoy!

Mia's 1st Birthday!

Mia had her first birthday! Her birthday was back in June. I cannot believe that she is already a year old. Where does the time go? The Saturday before her birthday we had a small party with some friends. Mia enjoyed pizza and chocolate cake! I got her some balloons, but she stay a safe distance away from them. She didn't mind wearing the birthday hat, but she didn't like it when mom and dad wore them. I had grand ideas of baking a cake from scratch and making it owl themed and being wonderful, then reality set in and the grocery store is a lot easier.
She got some very nice gifts at her party. Delaney gave her Charlie, which was her's when she was little. Charlie is a giant teddy bear which I am sure Mia will love her whole life:) Mike and Whitney got Mia a shopping cart full of "grocery's". Mia loves to walk around with her cart!
Doug and I both took off her actual birthday so we could spend the day together as a family. It was a really great day of relaxation and family time. We slept in, then went to lunch and ordered Mia her own meal. She LOVED it. She especially loved the chocolate milk she had for a drink. Then we went for a walk and relaxed at home. Mia got to open her presents and then play all afternoon with the presents from Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts and Doug and I:) She also got a great sprinkler, bubbles and cute outfit from her friends Emily, Nate and Stirling!
